Jun 02, 2013 Companions can also be purchased with Astral Diamonds, glory, and tarmalune trade bars. The player can have only 3 active companions at a time, which can be increased to 5 for 350 Zen per slot. Active companions can be switched between anytime the player is out of combat and the companions keep their equipped items. – Companions are awesome. When you get to level 16, you have to go BACK to SGT Knox, the journel may or may not update, but you need to talk with him to start the companion quest. You get a guardian and cleric companion later on so unless you truly need one or the other, I suggest you get something different. So they do have point.

You know I've tried that. and it doesnt do absolutely jack. Not at all. not one bit.
Reduction is zero. After giving her almost 300 recover on nothing but equipment for the icon and neck (minus runestones and enchants, since those do not seem to reflect in regular companion stats and the defense slots in runestones mean she'll just get deflect) and it didnt do nothing at all. - edited June 2014I've tested that before, when you put your mouse over the powers of your companion their CD doesn't decrease, doesn't matter if you put 100 recovery or 500, but I don't know, maybe it works but the CD they show are bugged, Idk..

Actually almost none of companions power has the right cooldown. It's always much more than stated on the tooltip. - Posts: 2,142Member, NW M9 PlaytestArc UserSomeone has tested and found that Companion's states strongly soft cap at 500. I had tried giving my Lillend 500 Recovery, and then the cooldown of her Audio Drain reduces about 1 second.

People stacking recovery on a dire wolf companion report that it will use its interrupting knockback and prone attacks far more often.
Companion skill tooltips are static graphics, unlike the dynamic ones for player skills, so you can't go off those at all and have to actually parse damage and time their ability uses.Guild Leader - The Lords of Light

If that's the case its a charges type of spell. Have three charges with a static cool down between refreshes. This type isn't affect by recovery through the game.
- edited June 2014Do not bother with recovery. I've tried 800+ recovery on a pheora a long time ago, and it made no difference.
If you like to play with a companion out, keeping it alive is more important. That's the reason only my DC plays with the War Dog (Defender) companion, because it's the only class capable of keeping companions alive throughout fights even in IWD.
Even then, my War Dog is focused on vital stats that are spec to 400-500, only PWR, CRIT, DEF, REGEN, and then HP. REGEN and LS is more or less mutually exclusive on companions, here REGEN is simply the better choice for my War Dog. - Posts: 0Member, Neverwinter Beta UsersArc UserDo not bother with recovery. The discussion isnt about bothering with recovery or not. The discussion is about if recovery even has any affect on companions to begin with.
And I've did some tests, and it does seem like recovery has some effect on companions, its not just as obvious. And as someone mentioned above the powers tooltips are static, they do not change unlike player powers.
Moonshea druid with about 250 recovery - Uses his fire balls 3 times then the thunderstorm (cooldown 8 secs)
Moonshea druid with 0 recovery - uses his fire balls 4 times and then the thunderstorm (cooldown 8secs but actually slightly less)
Swashbuckler with 117 recovery - uses slashing attacks 3 times then the charge half a second after
Swash buckler with 0 recovery - uses 4 slashes and then the charge immediately afterwards/or charges and slashes immediately afterwards.
Going to continue to test this on other characters, with different companions. - edited June 2014
I beg to differ, the stats one can put on a companion are very limited. After your testing, you will ultimately have to decide if you would rather stat recovery over something else, ie. getting an extra hit in before the companion falls or getting multiple extra hits with the companion staying alive. Recovery is more suited for leveling with a companion as opposed to playing end game with a companion, if the intention of testing stats on companions is to actually play using one.The discussion isnt about bothering with recovery or not. - Posts: 0Member, Neverwinter Beta UsersArc UserThats one own decision to do that if they choose. This discussion is not based on that. but basing on what recovery actually does since its effects arent as transparent.
After the results are confirmed through various testing, then someone can assess on thier own if they would want to or not. But thats not what the discussion is about. What you're talking about is what someone will do with the results of testing or not.
I've not once made an intention of mentioning I was going to use recovery on a companion or not. I never planned to in the first place. As mentioned before through all the previous posts, its to see exactly what effects recovery actually has on companions, if at all and to what degree.Onto the topic of more testing
Also in addition I've tested the Shaman pet's heal doesnt seem to be affected by recovery from what I can tell. Probably for the same reason the Cleric companion doesnt.
